We are huge movie buffs in our home. There are very few movies we haven’t seen, if any. We love seeing a good movie and all the fan fare that goes into going to the movies
In recent times, the allure of watching a movie while in the comfort of your home theater has been very hard to resist. That hasn’t stopped us from our one tradition. We make it a point to go to the movies one day every year. In recent times, it has always been the week of Christmas. Let’s face it, ALL the good movies in the last few years have been released at this time of the year.
HOWEVER, we don’t stop at just one movie! First, we make a list of all the movies we want to see. Then, we “map” out our movie schedule. We take into account run-time for each movie and make a schedule. Our schedule has to have as little down time as possible between each movie. This way we get to make the most of the whole day.
Our record is 5 movies in one day! This was a record for 2014 when we started at about 10am and ended at about midnight. Last year, we managed 4 movies in one day. This year, the goal is 5 movies again. If we cannot break the record, the least we can do is tie it!!
The best thing about our “movie day” is the planning process. Everyone brings out calculators, opens their digital calendars, and scours all the current movies. There is quite a bit of loud disagreements and frustrating hand wringing. But, we never fail to come up with the right schedule.
Bathroom breaks, snack buying time and some arcade game time is calculated in the schedule. We purchase all the tickets in advance, so, we don’t have to worry about wasting time in line at the ticket counter. We stock up on all the junk food, candy, popcorn and nachos from the concession stand because it is all part of the movie going experience.
Since the day is going to be filled with little to no nutritional meals, breakfast is the only chance I get to provide everyone with something healthy. This year, I am making these yogurt parfait for all.
You know that the movie SING© will be on our schedule. Animated movies are always feel good movies for us. Also, being part time web designers, we love to marvel at the technology and design work that goes into making them.
How many movies can you see in one day?
