Cinnamon Rolls Made with whole wheat flour. The Apples are dipped in rose flavored grenadine. It is a perfect dessert recipe for Mother’s day.
I will be the first to tell you that I am not a huge fan of Cinnamon rolls.
However, when I added apples and pistachios, I turned into a believer.
It has been a while since I used ground flax seed meals, so, I decided to change that.
Flax seed meal is one of my favorite ways to add omega 3 fatty oils to my diet.
Easy Cinnamon rolls recipe is always in demand. On mother’s day, these quick recipes are so important.
Why spend the time toiling in the kitchen when you could make quick rolls and enjoy them by the poolside with your mother, right?
Although, I know of many people who bond better with their mothers in the kitchen than anywhere else.
So, do anything with your mothers because it is important to bond than the nature of the activity.
This recipe is for mothers everywhere. They are the very best of humanity and deserve a wonderful treat every day of their lives.
I think you will like my vegan zucchini cakes too. They are easy to make and take no effort
What is your favorite activity to do with your mother?

- 1.5 tsp baking powder
- 3 Tbsp applesauce
- 1/2 cup almond milk unsweetened
- 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 1/2 Tbsp Earth Balance Butter
- 1/8 tsp salt optional
- 1 Tbsp Earth Balance Butter for brushing, melted
For the Apples
- 2 Granny Smith Apples Long, Thin slices
- 2 cups water
- 2 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 2 tsp Rose's Grenadine Syrup
For the Icing
- 1/4 cup sugar (powdered)
- 2 tsp almond milk
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
For the Garnish
- 2 tsp ground pistachios
- 1/4 cup dried cranberries
Instructions
For the Rolls
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut the applesauce slowly into the mixture. It will be rough in texture, but, that is perfectly fine
- Refrigerate for about 15 minutes
- Remove from the fridge and add the vinegar and sugar
- Mix gently
- Slowly add the almond milk while mixing
- Knead into a dough without overworking it
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle shape and 1/8" thickness
- Cut the edges out with a pizza cutter
- Brush the dough with the melted butter
- Sprinkle the Cinnamon filling on top of the buttered dough
- Cut into long pieces. In my method, I was able to make about 6 rolls
For the Apples (make while dough is in the fridge)
- Mix the water, sugar and lemon juice in a saucepan
- Bring it to a boil
- Add the apples and Rose Syrup
- Let it boil for about 2 minutes or until the apples are soft enough to bend
- Remove from heat
- Drain the apples and let them cool for about a minute
- On a paper towel, spread the apple slices
- Let them cool down
For the filling
- Combine the cinnamon, sugar and nutmeg
- Set aside
For the Icing
- Combine all the ingredients and whisk gently
- Set aside
Making the Rose shaped rolls
- Take the first long piece of dough
- Place a slice of apple lengthwise at the very edge of the roll
- Place a second one just above the tip of the first apple
- Continue until the long roll is filled on one side
- Starting from the tip, roll the cinnamon roll. Be very gentle
- Set aside
- Repeat until all the rolls have been made into the rose shape
- Take a baking tray and spray it with vegetable oil
- Line each of the rolls in the baking tray
- Bake for about 15-20 minutes or until the top of the apples start to brown
- Remove from the oven
- Top with the Icing or syrup
- Garnish with Pistachio and cranberries and serve immediately.

Thank you, Farha.
I can’t say I’m the same as you – my mom grew up making homemade caramel rolls 3 times a year and when she made them all 7 of us could be seen licking our plates in nostalgia after the last roll had disappeared. However, these are simple gorgeous and I’m glad you had a bit of a craving for those flavors after all!
Thank you, Christine. I can imagine just how great your mom’s cinnamon recipe is. It is nice to inherit a great recipe from your mother

Thank you, Kathryn
These look really interesting! I am going to have to try them when the apples start coming in season in late summer. I would probably use my own rose syrup made with rose water and simple syrup rather than grenadine, which is actually pomegranate. But I imagine both are good. Nice post! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, Sue Lau. I really like your recipe for Rose water. I think I will try that.

I’m not a fan of cinnamon rolls either, or cinnamon for that matter. But these are so inventive and so pretty I could probably eat 3 or 7 of these.
Thank you, Janette.
