I am not exaggerating when I say that this is a super easy Lo Mein recipe you will ever make.
Chinese food doesn’t come naturally to me. When it comes to eating it, I am a pro!
The next best thing is to make my favorite recipes at home. I made this very simple Lo Mein recipe over the weekend for my friends and they licked their plates.
The best part is that this is a a quick vegetarian Lo Mein recipe. Takes only 30 minutes to make. Veggie meals are always in demand and this one is one of the easiest to make.
This is my go-to recipe whenever I find myself staring at the inside of my fridge, scratching my head and looking for quick dinner ideas.

How to Make An Easy Lo Mein Recipe
1) Boil about 3 quarts of water
2) While the water is boiling, shred the cabbage. I used 1/2 of a small cabbage. Check out some of my best practices for cutting cabbage
3) Shred one long carrot which will be about 3/4 cup of shredded carrot
4) Chop 5 cloves of garlic. Adjust the garlic to your taste
5) The water should be boiled by now. Add Lo Mein Noodles. I used an 8 oz packet of lo mein noodles. Let them cook for about 5 minutes
6) Drain most of the water. Save about 1 cup for the Lo Mein. and wash with cold water. Set aside
7) In a skillet, add 2 tbsp of oil and heat at medium heat for 30 seconds
8) Add the garlic cloves to the oil and stir fry them for about 30 seconds or until they brown slightly
9) Add the carrots and cabbage to it. Keep the heat at medium. Let them stir fry for about 7-10 minutes or until they get soft
10) While that is cooking, assemble the sauce. In a bowl, add 1 Tbsp of soy sauce
11) Add 1 tsp of sesame oil
12) Add 1 Tbsp of black bean paste
13) Add the water that was set aside and mix well
14) The cabbage mixture should be done by now. Add tsp of chopped jalapeno
15) Add the Lo Mein noodles
16) Add the sauce mixture to the noodles and stir well
17) Adjust taste for salt. Top with 1 tsp of red pepper flakes. Serve this easy Lo Mein recipe immediately.
Easy Lo Mein Recipe
Ingredients
- 3 quarts water
- 2 cups cabbage shredded
- 1 carrot
- 5 cloves garlic
- 8 oz Lo Mein noodles
- 2 tbsp sesame oil for cooking
- 1 tsp sesame oil for the sauce
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp black bean paste
- 1 tsp chopped jalapeno
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes.
Instructions

- Shred one long carrot (about 3/4 cup of shredded carrot)

- Wash the cooked lo mein noodles with cold water and set aside

- Add the carrots and cabbage to it and stir fry for about 7-10 minutes or until soft
- While that is cooking, assemble the sauce. In a bowl, add 1 Tbsp of soy sauce
