This hot toddy tea recipe for a cold is the perfect for fighting the winter blues. Fight cold and flu symptoms with this delicious hot toddy recipe. Contains chamomile tea and Scotch Whiskey.
Is it “Hot Toddy” or “Hot Tottie” or “Hot Totty”??
I have always heard it as “Hot Toddy”. That sounds much better.
This hot tottie recipe is my way of showing support to my friends up north. They are about to go through the WORST snow storm ever experienced.
The ingredient is the trusted Scotch Whiskey. Nothing warms the soul quite like strong whiskey drinks.
I have noticed that whiskey recipes are always in demand when the temperatures dip below freezing. Every good hot toddy recipe worth its weight in water will have some whiskey in it.
To round out this hot toddy, I brewed some Chamomile tea. Then I added star anise, cloves, cinnamon and lemon juice.
I noticed that this recipe doesn’t just keep the shivers away. The next time you Google, “How do you fight the flu naturally?”, don’t be surprised if this recipe comes up in the search. You may have to go to page 1000 to see it.
This tottie also helps soothe your throat and clear up chest congestion.
After drinking this hot toddy, I guarantee you that you a restful nap and / or sleep. Even the most insomniacs like me can get a restful sleep after drinking this hot toddy.
If you need an energizing drink to perk you up, try my ultimate antioxidant smoothie blast or my carrot ginger rejuvenating drink.
So, bottoms up!
Yes, you can make it without alcohol, but it won’t have the same kick
Make this toddy and drink it immediately. It’s not good to refrigerate it or re-heating it for that matter.
Use black tea like Earl Grey and Darjeeling tea. Or a simple Lipton lemon tea works great too.

Healing Tomato, I am a little confused about your recipe. It calls for 1 Cup of whiskey for 1 Cup of tea, but also calls for it to be filled with 3/4 water. I’m sorry, I might just be missing something.
Healing Tomato says
Thank you, Hilary. I added the extra water to make it less astringent. It is optional, so, feel free to omit it.

I have always said it as hot toddy. Your recipe looks fantastic. I have this when I have bad cold but not quite as jazzed up as yours, I love it!!
Healing Tomato says
Thank you, Tara. I have always heard hot toddy while in up north. Down south, it seems that hot tottie is more popular
