Tips for making this dip

  • I use Greek seasoning in this recipe, which can be strong flavored if you haven’t had it before. Feel free to go with just pepper instead.
  • Cottage cheese is optional, but highly recommended. It gives it an added layer of creaminess and saltiness. Incidentally, did you know that you you can use cottage cheese to make a colorful cottage cheese bark?
  • Use plain and whole milk Greek yogurt because it doesn’t come with added sugars.
  • This is also a great make-ahead appetizer and serve it the following day or up to 5 days after.
  • Veggies like carrots, cucumbers, broccoli, etc would taste great when dipped in this whipped feta dip. My favorite is cucumber because it tastes almost like Tzatziki.
  • I like serving this chilled, but, you can serve it right out of the food processor.
  • Use a grinder type of food processor because it contains dual blade system. This is the one I used for this recipe (Affiliate Link) Homeleader Electric Food Processor
  • Crumbled feta will make your life easier in this recipe because it’s less work. However, if you can’t find crumbled, use the block feta. Roughly chop it before blending.
  • I tried this whipped feta by adding smoked cream cheese and it was delicious.

This is one of those Mediterranean dips that you just don’t want to share with anyone!

Trying (and failing!) to veganize this recipe

My first instinct has always been to make a vegan recipe for everything!

So, I started by using vegan Greek yogurt (there are not too many brands that make a good vegan version. Kite Hill has one that might work for you).

For the feta, I tried my homemade tofu feta plus store bought ones like Violife and Follow Your Heart. I also used vegan cream cheese to sub for the cottage cheese!

ZERO JOY!

The taste and texture just didn’t come together when I made it using vegan ingredients. So, this recipe is much better when using dairy products.

If you try out this recipe successfully using vegan dairy, PLEASE PLEASE let me know in the comments below. I would love to get a vegan version for myself.

And, for those who want a better understanding of veganism, I have a an in-depth guide for you to check out.

Not just for chips! This dip will make you fall in love with veggies too. Dip baby carrots or cucumber in it.

In sweetness and in health!

I don’t like using honey or agave in this recipe because I know people who are avoiding sugar for health reasons. So, I eliminated it from this recipe.

However, if you are not against sugars of any kind, add honey or agave to this whipped feta dip. Use a liquid sugar over grainy sugars because they blend well in the dip.

You can also garnish it with lemon or lime zest.

Plain garnish or unique garnishes

So, what did I top my whipped feta recipe with? I topped it with a healthy olive salad with is low-carb, keto and good fats recipe that is just beyond delicious!

If you are not a fan of whipping up the feta, make a baked feta instead. It tastes so good.

You can garnish it with:

  • Salsa (Mexican and Greek fusion sounds interesting, right? Dip a tortilla chip)
  • A variety of nuts like pumpkin seeds and pistachios
  • Dried fruits like apricots and dates

I call this the 5-5 dip! It takes 5 ingredients and ready in just 5 minutes!
