Notes
#1 - The amount of sugar might depend on the tartness of your apples. Give it a taste test at the end to make sure you don't need more sugar.** NUTRITION INFO IS APPROXIMATETips for making this recipe
Use organic granny smith apples in this recipe. They are free of pesticides and other harmful elements.
This recipe can be made with or without the apple peels.
If you remove the apple peels, you can put them in compost.
Use lemon or lime juice to coat the chopped apples so that they don't turn brown.
Instead of white sugars, I prefer using dark brown sugar. If you want to make an Amish version, you can use sucanat instead.
If you don't have pumpkin pie spice, you can add ½ tsp nutmeg and 1½ tsp and ground cinnamon.
Pecan pieces are optional, but, I highly recommend you use them in this recipe. It adds a nutty and delicious flavor to the apple butter.
Wait for the Instant Pot to fully cool down before opening the lid.
Store the apple butter in a glass jar and refrigerate.
